Dallas = Hockeytown USA?

April 28, 2008

I know in the grand order of professional sports in Dallas, hockey falls somewhere between Co-ed club soccer and WhirlyBall. But damnit, the Stars are putting together a fantastic playoff run so far. We stole 2 games in San Jose to start the second round, and they’re coming back here for games 3 and 4 on Tuesday and Wednesday. While the Stars are kicking ass and taking names, our beloved Mavs have been sucking royally in the first round against the New Orleans Hornets.

Both teams played Sunday night, so the McClellans came over for a little watching party. It was so hard to watch the Mavs. Early on, I was flipping back and forth between the games, but eventually, it was obvious the Stars – Sharks game was the one to watch. After we won that in solid fashion, instead of switching to the basketball game, we just went ahead and turned on Rock Band.

Oh how the mighty have fallen.

PS Perhaps the most telling stat of the night. The Stars big midseason acquisition Brad Richards scored 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists). The Mavs big midseason acquisition Jason Kidd only scored 3 points. Ouch.
