Spring has sprung

May 14, 2008

Time for a new layout on Ye Olde Blogge.

I like this one because it signifies my renewed interest in the upkeep of my lawn,  even though it looks like a weed jungle right now.  All I need to do is give my mower a quick tune up to get it running again, and I’ll be set.

By the way.  I spent last night sleeping in the back of my car.  Yay me.

Current Events

June 19, 2007

OK, so it’s been a while.  Honestly, I’m pretty sure the only reason I blog is to go back and see what I was doing 1 year ago, 2 years ago, etc.  Anyway, here’s the 411:

New Job

Just started my life as a Sharepoint consultant.  It’s pretty exciting, and very challenging.  Getting any large scale Microsoft product to work usually is.  However, I was very sad to leave all my friends at Reflect.  I let them know that it was a decision purely based on monetary demands.   Well, 99% of it.  I left myself some wiggle room.

Travel Plans

I leave tomorrow for a week long mini vacation in Vermont.  Jesi has completed her Masters Degree program at Norwich University and she will be graduating there on Friday.  Everyone send her congrats via her myspace or something.  And don’t worry, there’ll be plenty of pics up on flickr of the event.  I even rented a BA lens for it.

Possible New Vehicle

Since the SAAB has no A/C and I live in Texas, there is a need for a vehicular change.  The current frontrunner is a 1983 Mercedes-Benz 300SD.  This guy in Coppell is selling it on craigslist.  It has been converted to run on Biodiesel or even Waste Vegetable Oil.  Or I can just run it on normal pump diesel which is already $0.10 / gallon cheaper than regular unleaded.  On top of that it gets around 35 MPG already so this should be a really good investment.  Here’s a reference pic, not of the actual car though:

Kiss Me! I’m of Austrian, Native American, and British decent!

March 4, 2007

Doesn’t have the same ring to it does it? Well, at the North Texas Irish Fest ’07, everyone can be Irish for a day. Or Scottish, since they’re not cool enough to have their own festival, they tag along with the Leprechauns. Anyway, Jesi had the great idea of going to the Festival on Saturday at Fair Park. It was quite the event. Vendors selling their wares, Spudzilla’s, Irish folk music, you name it.

Some photographic highlights:

One of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made.

February 12, 2007

I’ve decided I need to sell my GTI, though it breaks my heart to do it. As anyone who knows me can attest, I LOVE this car. But the forces of economics are conspiring against me and alas, she must go to a new home.

Here are my ads on Craigslist and AutoTrader:

Finally, something to blog about

February 20, 2006

Well, it’s time for my bi-annual automotive change. This year’s lucky contestant is the all-new 2006 Mark V Volkswagen GTI.

This thing hauls some serious ass. Although I will be sad to see the Miata go, it was time to move on. Ce la vie.

son of bitch, shit!

September 8, 2005

Well, this morning I was awoken to some great news. Alana says, “Josh, you’re car was broken into”. I’m all asleep, so I says,”F that, pass the mashed potatoes!” Then she’s all, “Wake up bitch!” And I’m all “I wanna go back to the Shire!”

After about 20 minutes of that, I became fully conscious to the damage that had been done.

ugh.

On the bright side, I’m glad this joker had to go through all this trouble and only come up with a poker chip set that was missing a whole bunch of chips. Har! I know you’re reading this you little fucker!

He or she (aww who the hell am I kidding, we all know it was a he) did also manage to break my stereo, which I hated anyways, so thank you. So, now I get a new top, which is handy since mine already had a hole in it on the other side, and a new stereo. Yay for me!

Let this also be a reminder to all my brethren out there renting apartments and duplexes and whatnot. Get some damn renter’s insurance. Auto comprehensive coverage only covers the damage to the car, your renter’s insurance covers anything stolen out of the vehicle.
